Let me ask you a question Fadi, what did you finding that friend change or add to your life?

This is the scenario that will take place, as I am guessing:

You will message each other a few times, ask about each others' lives and then you and that friend will be so busy in life and you will be poking them on Facebook every now and then just out of respect :P

No seriously, I do agree that Facebook is important to some extent BUT it is a tool for altering minds and creating different realms of reality which do not really exist... But that's only my opinion, and a few others that I've heard and read complaining about this issue :)

As much as I enjoyed your post, Beirut, I must say that I do not agree 100%. I agree that to some extent, social networking through the Web has altered the way we do things. But I do have a few good stories to tell that could've only happened through social media.

Take this for example: I am working with a software developer on an Android application. Where did we meet? ... Twitter. We didn't even know each other, and we are collaborating for mutual benefit and, well, fun :). Also, catching up with old friends is not bad just because you don't have much to say to one another.
On the other hand, putting all my information, photos, friends and connections online gives me the chills! That's why I try only to put the minimum when it comes to my personal life.

Great post :)

That is an amazing thing that has a lot of benefits :)

Hello Fadi :)

Thank you for your comment but I have to disagree!

You know what they say: When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade! We are humans after all, and if you give us tools to stalk, no matter how sane, busy or logical we are, we will use them...

Apart from that point, I believe that the overall harms of social networks nowadays are out numbering the goods if you think about it... Just like we survived with no mobile phone for hundreds of years with no real problems, we could do without the online communication which can alienate us from reality and leave many of us angry, desperate and alone :)

Thanks again :)

It is more of a better way of communication and getting information about whatever you have in mind. Like any new human invention, people can use it for their betterment or their demise - depending on you character.

If one has nothing to do except stalking his/her ex online, then it is his persoanl issue, it is not the problem of the system itself.
