Well chucky it all depends on whose ground you are leaving that comment, both sides do get pretty dismissive of the others argument when they are in their comfort zone but quite often they end up in a neutral zone and a lot of constructive conversation occurs so i don't really think the conversation is shallow.
That is if you know where you are discussing it. blogs and lesser known ones tend to be less trolled and you will get a lot more out of your discussion, but if you are trying to discuss the nicene creed youtube then you're SoL

I consider most atheist comments to be a lot closer to spam than their religious counterparts. Whereas a believer has an interest in discussing these things an atheist wins if they take down the conversation which they don't like - in any way that they can. The internet, where conversations are about as shallow as they come is the ideal tool for that.

I think that it depends on the way he tries to convert me. I mean, if he keeps on sending the same message over and over again then yes, but if he gives it a shy try and I go along with it, and ask for more, then no I won't consider it spam. Social media is great for people to come face to face and address their differences. Let it be, and let us challenge each other for the benefit of the all.

Great post!
I think social media, just like any media channel online and offline, plays a big role in changing people's minds about certain matters and altering their perspectives, especially when it comes to sensitive issues like religion, race and so on.
I further believe that subjects and issues as sacred as religion should not be used in games because that, in a way, lessens form this spiritually!
