Yammer is great, but somewhat limited, it's great for effective communications though. We are using our own development - http://www.comindwork.com, we are working hard and it is growing fast. Recent updates included a lot enterprise features like custom workflows and ACL based permission schemes

Thank you for the nice review of Socialtext. The significant difference between Socialtext and “twitter-like-clones”, it that we offer a full collaboration platform. So rather than using several stand-alone tools for different functions (blog, wiki, micro-blogging, profiles, etc), users get all the tools in a single integrated fashion. Also, I want to highlight that in addition to wiki pages, users can create spreadsheets.

Hi Carrie, Socialcast made it to the list because of its poplarity. We examined several Enterprise 2.0 platforms and decided to list the most popular ones (top 5). Sure, I can see that it is more just microblogging – although it does that right -.

Present.ly seems to have a pretty neat interface as well. You are right about enterprise microblogging, it does give communication at work a different mean.

We have been using Present.ly – has been working out really well at our offices. especially for large companies with offices around the world, enterprise microblogging is a great way to share projects updates, manage ideas, and much more. Present.ly has been great in terms of scalability as well.

We use Cyn.in for our knowledge sharing and internal collaboration - our intranet. We have been using it internally and even to get our clients on board the intranet. It is quite beautifully designed and it integrates most of our requirements of Blogging, Microblogging, File sharing, Versioning, Wikis, Events etc. into a single system. It has made working with files and documents fun!

I like Yammer and SocialCast the most (after reading your descriptions & opinions of each). I guess I have to try them out then let you know which one is my favorite! Great work! Very informational and interesting!
