The thing is not about freedom, i think we are maturing from the anonymous age of the internet into that of an identity (we can still be anon though). With that came the realization that if we screw up on the net, it will still be there and won't be forgotten which is making/forcing us to be more responsible that's all.
for example you are free to go buy crack from the streets but is it really responsible to do so?

I agree there are dangers inherent in the internet, and the things we do online. But I don't see a direct connection between that and having less freedom. Can there be consequences for our actions? Yes. Is that any different from "real life" (offline)? Not really. We have freedom of speech outside of the internet, and it can get us in trouble there depending on how we use it. I think the biggest difference is that more people are recording their speech for posterity, even they don't realize that's what they're doing, so the time-frame of liability is infinitely longer. If I say something inflammatory to someone in my daily life, they might get mad at me, but they'll eventually get over it (hopefully), and we'll move on. If I say that same thing online, it can potentially be there forever in print, possibly for others to see. There are countless things I'm willing to talk about with someone in person that I won't venture to discuss online, simply because I don't feel like "going on record" with it.

So if one defines internet freedom as "freedom to say/do anything online without risk or potential repercussions," then no, such freedom does not exist. But then, I don't think we have that offline, either.

Well, I don't think "freedom" will ever truly exist. Even on a more philosophical level — do we have freedom over our own actions?
