Welcome to another episode of Thoughtpick’s series of articles: Apps Using SM Brilliantly. We will again be looking into examples of tricks and methods that online games and applications are using to make the most of social media. In other words, what is making those apps as “spreadable” and “viral” as they are.
Today’s application is: Halifax Holiday Matchmaker on Facebook.
The application is genuinely creative, useful and entertaining all at the same time. It analyzes the content from your Facebook profile and gives you the ‘ideal’ holiday destinations.
This particular application is interesting because it is somehow reversing the process. Instead of helping you fill up your profile with bits and pieces of information, it analyzes the bits and pieces you already posted and delivers it’s fun and useful suggestions.
Furthermore, the application also tells you cool things to do at the given location, what the weather is like and if you ‘match’ say Paris, it will give you best place to buy the ultimate Parisian tourist souvenir: A Plastic Eiffel Tower. Luckily, it will also link to you Halifax’s Travel money site so you can get your travel money at a great price.
Take a look at my holiday match:
