Today’s application is : Gogobot.

The Application:

Gogobot- Travel Just Got a Whole Lot Friendlier

Gogobot is an application designed to help its users plan all types of trips ranging from a week’s vacation, a business trip to a weekend getaway, in a fun and simple way.

The idea behind Gogobot’s success is that it helps people who want to travel to plan the trips they want to make through advice that comes from people they trust – people like them - and not from anonymous strangers on the internet.

Furthermore, Gogobot allows you to share your experiences with friends easily!

What They Did:

Apparently, Gogobot has received a lot of recommendations from various well-reputed blogs and companies such as TechCrunch. This must be due to the fact that the applications is viral and useful and it was able to catch the attention of many people out there planning to plan a trip in the near future.

  • It allows you to ask advice from people you trust about places to go and things to do.

Cool app. It's social from everywhere you look at it: a social app that uses social data to help you make decisions.

Glad you liked it :) Will you be using it to plan your next trip?

Frankly, I don't think I will. I am not that plan-obsessed (opposite to most people I know). I get to the destination, and start planning at the hotel.

Thanks for the post, Beiruta! Amer, Gogobot is brilliant for people who don't like advance planning. I used Gogobot on my trip to New York last week. I posted a question from Gogobot out to my friends on Facebook after I arrived asking about some cool bars/restaurants in the village, and I got 45 recommendations – it was amazing!

Travis, that's great input. Now, I'd probably use it :)

This is an interesting app but 2 things:
How is it different than asking directly on Facebook? or Yelp?
The second and the more pertinent problem is that in the majority of places we will know no locals who live there and that means the info we will be getting is either dated or too touristy.
