‘It Gets Better’ Campaign — Learn Social Media by Example


In the past few weeks, the LGBT community – especially in the United States – has been hard hit with stories of one teen’s suicide after the other. While gay and questioning teens have always been a high risk group when it comes to suicide and although programs like the Trevor project have been set up to provide aid, guidance and assistance for those teens, they are still cutting their lease on life in droves.

After the death of four teens all over the United states, the public sentiments culminated with the death of Tyler Clementi, a Rutgers University student who has committed suicide just last week after he has been bullied and black mailed by his roommate who live-streamed private videos of him on the internet.

The beibermaniacs jealousy meter skyrocketed and they quickly hit Twitter and made #getsomejustin a trending topic in which they teased and mocking the star for “gettin’ some“.  Things got so bad to the extent that his agent tried to step in for a little damage control. But finally it was Justin who managed to pull a quick one on his fans recapturing their hearts by kissing another girl, you go playa!

Google Pretending to Care? — Two New Transparency Tools

Corporate Transparency and user information privacy are hot topic issues on the net, and with bigger and bigger services people are becoming more and more aware that their information is not solely accessible by those whom they decide to share their information with. Their information might be shared with hackers, nosy friends, and even governments. Google has released a couple of new services that will address privacy issues and raise the level of transparency that Google has about its interaction with the governments of he world.

FAIL: ‘Hack is Wack’ Video Contest — Learn Social Media by Example

Symantec is certainly a power house when it comes to anti-virus and security solutions and it is one of the top brands in the business but when it comes to its marketing initiatives let us just say that they are lackluster to say the least. Their latest surely has been born after an extended “brain storming session” between their marketing managers and hip-hop superstar, Snoop Dogg.
